“Confusion of Genres”

There was confusion of tongues at the Tower of Babel.
There’s now confusion of genres as I stare at the paper.
Failing repeatedly, I can’t help but scratch my head
As I see how the beginning differs from the end.

My comedy punched weakly and mellowed into drama.
Crying seems to be the default mode of this flimsy fella.
What started out as romance intensified into action
And seems to’ve been interrupted by the increasing tension.

So many spots in my writing are riddled with inconsistencies.
Like what I had developed for action slipped into comedy
What was meant to be horror also became comedy
Because of the funny way the protagonist gets surprised by a zombie.

So many crumpled paper have been shot into the bin.
Clearly, I have a lot to improve upon as regards to my writing.
Perhaps I should make it more linear and stick to the formula
Or listen to the experts, read a book or encyclopedia.
